There are many attractions you can go in Budapest so I suggest at least 4 days if you want to enjoy every bits of the city. I went on a city tour with my Spanish friend, Juanito, whom I met in Vienna. We didn’t know each other before the course in Vienna, and it turned out that we have almost the same traveling schedule, so we met up 2 times in Bratislava and Budapest respectively. We went on a free city tour that takes you to see the main attractions in the city. We went to St. Stephen’s Basilica, crossed the Chain bridge, walked around the Buda Castle and Matthias Church. It was quite a long distance with just walking, but it’s interesting to know about the rich history of Budapest from the Tour guide. We took quite a lot of picture and it sure wasn’t easy with a height difference of almost 30 cm but we had a lot of fun! We also made a little video with us being the tour guides, “acting” like we know so much about Budapest, it is incorporated in the video in the end of this entry. So check it out!

The history of Hungary is quite complicated, with invasions from Romans, Ottomans etc, but one of the good thing about the Turkish influences is the indoor bath or so-called Spa. We went to a huge and nice indoor spa called Gellert Thermal Bath. There are many many pools in this spa. There was a big outdoor wave pool, a semi warm outdoor pool, some outdoor jacuzzis with sauna, more than 5 indoor hot baths with different temperature, an indoor swimming pool, steam sauna, dry sauna, you name it. It was just incredibly big, like a maze. I really enjoyed the architecture style of the different pools, the decorations make you feel like you are back to the 1960s or something. I highly recommend you to try the indoor baths if you ever visit Budapest! It cost around 16 Euros for a day pass with locker, they also have a cabin locker which is a room with lock basically. So you have your own private little room where you can change and store your personal belongings for just 2 more Euros. Since it’s a spa, there are also different massage packages you could do. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the time to try them, but I definitely will next time when I come back!

After the relaxing spa, we walked up to the Gellert Hill with a few cans of beer to see the sunset. The three of us gazing the city of Budapest with the background of the nightfall and how the lights slowly dimmed up the darkness and the city, what a nice way to end the day and my Budapest trip.
